Growing Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Everyone is very aware of regular basil, even the growing purple variety, that are added to make sauces or pestos.  There is a very special type of basil known as Tulsi, often called Holy Basil, that has been clinically shown to alleviate depression, anxiety, repair damaged skin, nerves, muscles, and tendons, improve one’s white cell count, and help fight infections and lower fevers.  Our homestead planted from seed, what is now about 30 small plants in our greenhouse.  After the ground has sufficiently warmed, we will plant this basil in slotted openings through black plastic.  With a covered watering hose system and some additional water from our rain barrels, we hope to have plenty of Tulsi for making tinctures this summer.
